The question that stops an online purchase is always the same: what if they do not fit? It is a fair question. The good news is that the answer is already written, inside the temple of the glasses you are wearing right now.
Look inside the left temple
Take your glasses, turn the left temple toward the light and look for a sequence like 49□22 140. Almost every frame in the world carries it. Those are your measurements, and they work across any brand.
What each number means
The first is the lens width, in millimetres. The higher it is, the wider the frame sits. Below 48 you are in small territory, above 54 in oversize.
The second, after the little square, is the bridge: the gap between the lenses, which is how much room your nose gets. This is the number that decides whether a frame slides down or leaves a mark.
The third is the temple length, from hinge to tip. Usually between 135 and 145 millimetres.
The sum that actually matters
Lens width plus bridge tells you how wide the front is across the part that rests on your face. If your current pair is 49□22, the sum is 71: a 52□18 frame adds up to 70 and will sit on you in a similar way, even though the lenses look different. That is why two frames with different numbers can fit the same.
What if you have no pair to measure?
You need a reference of known size. Hold a credit card horizontally just below your eyes and take a straight photo: a card is 85.6 millimetres wide everywhere in the world, so I can work back to your proportions from the picture. Send it over and I will tell you which size to start from.
The advantage of buying from the person who builds them
In a normal shop you choose among the sizes that exist. In my workshop the frame is born afterwards, so if you fall between two sizes you do not have to accept the compromise: we make yours. Every model in the catalogue is available on request in other sizes and colours, and it takes two or three days.
